The surface of this headband is created using natural lacquer traditionally derived from the sap of the lacquer tree.

Rather than using a printed pattern, carefully prepared lacquer colors are floated on water and guided by hand.

As the colors meet, spread, and overlap, they create organic lines and shapes across the surface.

Some movements are soft and subtle.

Others become stronger and more graphic.

No two patterns can be reproduced exactly.

The finished headband therefore carries the marks of the process itself — every curve and color transition is slightly different.
